Marketing Campaigns
What this dashboard tracks
The Marketing Campaigns Dashboard connects Shopify discount and order data in Excel so you can measure the ROI of every promotion, coupon, and campaign without building manual reports.
Key metrics
- Discount code performance — redemption count, total discount amount, and revenue generated per code - Promotion ROI — revenue uplift during campaign period vs. baseline period - Customer acquisition — new vs. returning customer split in orders - Average order value by campaign — does a promo increase AOV or just attract bargain buyers? - Campaign overlap — orders using multiple discount codes at once - Promo margin impact — gross margin before and after discount for each campaign
Why these KPIs matter
Running a 20 % off campaign feels like growth until you see the margin numbers. Discount code redemption tells you if the campaign reached its audience. ROI calculation (incremental revenue divided by discount cost) separates the campaigns that pay for themselves from the ones that burn cash. New vs. returning split tells you if you are buying loyalty or just rewarding customers who would have bought anyway. AOV shift shows whether a campaign attracted high-value buyers or deal hunters.
Data sources
This dashboard uses the orders, discount_codes, and price_rules objects from the Shopify connection. Set the campaign date range as a query parameter and compare against a control period.
Typical use cases
- Post-campaign analysis for Black Friday, seasonal sales, or influencer codes - Comparing coupon code effectiveness across marketing channels - Deciding which promo mechanics to repeat or retire
